BAK Industries Revolver X4S Hard Rolling Tonneau Cover

★★★★★4.8· thousands of reviews

We designed the BAK Industries Revolver X4S for drivers who demand both security and speed. This hard rolling tonneau cover combines powder-coated aluminum slat panels with a two-section roll-up design, letting you access the full bed or just the rear cargo area in seconds.

The matte black finish matches OEM truck styling, while our flush-mount rail system keeps the profile low and the bed edges clean. Every X4S ships with stainless steel rotary latches, integrated LED cargo lights, and a reinforced front panel that locks flush against the cab.

Whether you're hauling construction gear during the week or camping equipment on weekends, the Revolver X4S protects your cargo from weather and theft without sacrificing quick access or bed visibility.

Aluminum slat construction and powder-coat durability

Every Revolver X4S slat is die-formed from marine-grade aluminum alloy, then powder-coated in our Indianapolis facility to resist UV fade, road salt, and impact. The slats overlap when closed, creating a continuous weather seal that channels rain toward the bed drain holes.

We chose aluminum over vinyl-wrapped materials because it holds its shape under load – you can stack cargo directly on the closed cover without worrying about panel sag or crease lines. The powder coat is applied electrostatically at 400°F, bonding to the raw metal for a finish that outlasts paint in coastal climates and snowbelt winters.

Two-panel roll-up system and partial-access modes

The X4S divides into two independent panels: a shorter front section and a longer rear section that together span the full bed. When you need quick access to rear cargo, release the tailgate latches and roll the rear panel forward – it stays secure with hook-and-loop straps against the cab.

For full bed access, release the front panel’s rotary latches and roll both sections forward in sequence. The entire cover stows in the front 12 inches of bed space, leaving the rear 90 percent open for oversize loads like plywood sheets or ATV ramps.

Styling

Flush-mount rail system and clamp installation

Our Revolver X4S rail kit uses aircraft-grade aluminum extrusions that sit flush with the bed rail caps – no visible hardware, no bulky brackets sticking above the bed line. Each rail clamps to the inside of the bed stake pocket with spring-loaded jaws, distributing tension evenly so you never drill into the truck frame.

Installation takes one person about 45 minutes with basic hand tools. We include position templates for F-150, Silverado, RAM, Tundra, and Tacoma bed profiles, plus adjustable strike plates that let you fine-tune the fit on aftermarket bed liners or spray-in coatings.

Installed in under an hour solo
I put this on my 2022 F-150 by myself in the driveway. The clamp system is genius – no drilling, no measuring, just slide the rails into place and tighten. The LED lights are bright enough to see every corner of the bed at night. After six months the matte finish still looks brand new.

Perfect for weekly lumber runs
I haul 2x4s and plywood sheets every weekend. The two-panel design lets me roll the rear section forward when I need the tailgate down, then lock everything shut for the highway. No flapping, no leaks, and the slats don't dent when I stack lumber on top.

Quieter than my old soft roll cover
We upgraded from a vinyl tonneau and the difference in wind noise is huge. The X4S sits flush with the bed rails so there's no whistling at 70 MPH. The powder coat hasn't faded even after a summer parked outside in Arizona sun.

LED lights are a game changer
I didn't think the cargo lights would matter much, but now I use them every time I load or unload after dark. The magnetic switch sticks to my dash and the wiring tucked cleanly behind the cab – no visible wires.

Holds up to Montana winters
We've had this on our Silverado through two Montana winters. Ice and snow slide right off the slats, and the rotary latches never freeze shut. The finish hasn't chipped or rusted despite constant road salt exposure.

Best investment for my Tundra
I was nervous about spending this much on a bed cover, but after a year of daily use I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. The build quality is commercial-grade and the warranty gives me peace of mind for the long haul.

Frequently asked questions about the Revolver X4S

No drilling is required. The X4S uses a clamp-on rail system that secures to the inside of your bed stake pockets with spring-loaded jaws. The entire installation is reversible – if you sell the truck or want to remove the cover, the bed returns to factory condition with no holes or permanent modifications.

Yes. The two-panel design lets you roll open only the rear section when you need quick tailgate access, or roll both panels forward for full bed exposure. The rear panel stays secured with hook-and-loop straps against the cab, so you can drive with partial access without the cover flapping or shifting.

The X4S rail kit includes adjustable strike plates that accommodate most spray-in liners and aftermarket bed caps. If your bed has existing stake pocket inserts or rail systems, you may need to remove them before installing the X4S clamps. We provide fitment guides for LINE-X, Rhino Liner, and Penda bed liner profiles in the instruction manual.

We include two wiring options in the box: a dedicated inline fuse tap that draws power from your fuse panel, and an upfitter switch harness for trucks with factory-installed auxiliary circuits. The magnetic dash switch requires no permanent mounting – it adheres to any metal surface in your cab. Full wiring diagrams for F-150, Silverado, RAM, Tundra, and Tacoma models are included.

The closed X4S can support up to 300 pounds of evenly distributed static load – enough for stacked lumber, toolboxes, or camping gear. The aluminum slat panels are reinforced at 12-inch intervals to prevent sagging. We do not recommend driving with cargo stacked on top of the closed cover, as road vibration can shift loads and stress the side rail clamps.

Yes. The powder-coat finish is cured at 400°F and bonded directly to the aluminum substrate, creating a UV-stable surface that resists fading in direct sunlight. In accelerated aging tests, the X4S finish showed less than 5 percent color shift after 2,000 hours of simulated sun exposure – equivalent to roughly five years of outdoor parking in desert climates.

Most factory bed extenders and tie-down systems remain accessible with the X4S installed. The flush-mount rails sit above the bed stake pockets, leaving the bed floor and side walls clear for OEM accessories. If your truck has a midgate or pass-through panel behind the cab, verify clearance measurements in our fitment guide – some configurations require the front X4S panel to roll forward when the midgate is open.
