BAK Revolver X4S Bed Cover 80227 – Hard Rolling Tonneau Cover
The BAK Revolver X4S Bed Cover 80227 is a hard rolling tonneau cover engineered for Toyota Tundra models with a 6'7" bed. We built this cover with aluminum slat panels and a powder-coated matte finish that shrugs off weather while keeping your cargo secure.
The X4S automatically secures itself with our exclusive rotary latch system – no clamps to fumble with, no loose straps to tuck. Roll it open with one hand, lock it at any position along the bed, or fold it completely behind the cab for full bed access. It's compatible with most bed rack systems, including our SureStow rack that stores inside the cover housing when you need maximum clearance.
What makes the X4S different

Aluminum panel construction and finish durability
Each slat on the BAK Revolver X4S bed cover 80227 is formed from extruded aluminum, then treated with a powder-coated matte black finish. That finish resists UV fade and stands up to road salt, gravel spray, and the constant flexing that happens when you roll the cover open and closed every day.
The slats interlock with continuous EPDM rubber seals, creating a barrier that sheds rain before it reaches your cargo. We tested this seal configuration in freeze-thaw cycles and high-pressure wash bays – the rubber stays pliable and maintains contact even when temperatures swing forty degrees overnight. If you haul tools or gear that can’t get wet, this overlap design is more forgiving than covers that rely on a single perimeter gasket.

Rotary latch system and why it matters
How the automatic latching works
Most tonneau covers use clamps that you twist by hand at the cab end or tailgate end. The X4S replaces those with a rotary latch housed inside each aluminum rail. When you roll the cover forward, spring-loaded rotary cams engage automatically – you hear a distinct click, and the cover is locked.
To release, you lift a lever recessed into the side rail. One hand opens the entire cover from either the driver or passenger side, which is useful when you’re carrying a tool bag or standing on uneven ground. There are no separate tailgate locks to remember, and nothing dangles outside the bed rails where it can snag a tarp or scratch your paint.
SureStow rack compatibility and bed access
The X4S housing is designed to accept our SureStow rack system – a pair of aluminum crossbars that slide into dedicated channels on top of the cover. When you need the rack, you pull the bars out and lock them into place; when you don’t, they stow completely inside the housing so the cover profile stays flush.
This design lets you carry kayaks, lumber, or ladders without permanently mounting a separate bed rack that blocks the cover. You’re not choosing between covered storage and rack capacity – the X4S models in our lineup were all built with dual-use in mind, which is why commercial fleet managers and weekend DIYers both spec them.

Common questions about the BAK Revolver X4S 80227
No, the 80227 is specifically sized for the Toyota Tundra with a 6'7" bed. If you have a different bed length, you'll need a different model number. Always confirm your bed length by measuring from the inside of the bulkhead to the inside of the tailgate before ordering.
Yes, the X4S is compatible with our SureStow rack system, which stores inside the cover housing when not in use. You can also use most aftermarket bed racks that mount to the side rails, but check that the rack feet won't interfere with the cover's rolling mechanism.
The aluminum slats are rated to support up to three hundred pounds when the cover is fully closed and latched. That's enough for light foot traffic or stacking firewood, but we don't recommend standing in one spot for extended periods or driving with heavy cargo sitting on top of the cover.
The X4S is water-resistant, not waterproof. The overlapping slat seals and perimeter gaskets shed rain and snow effectively, but a direct pressure-washer blast or pooling water can force some moisture through. For electronics or documents, use a secondary dry bag inside the bed.
No drilling required. The X4S uses clamp-on side rails that grip the inside of your bed walls. Installation involves positioning the rails, tightening clamps, and attaching the slat canister – all with hand tools. Your bed stays intact if you ever remove the cover.
Our limited lifetime warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship for as long as you own the cover. That includes the aluminum slats, rotary latch mechanism, rails, and hardware. Normal wear items like seals and finish fade from UV exposure are not covered. The warranty is non-transferable.
You can roll the cover open as long as the cargo doesn't extend above the bed rail height. If you have tall items that push against the closed cover, you'll need to remove or rearrange them before opening. The slats roll toward the cab, so anything blocking that path will prevent the cover from retracting.
