Revolver X4S Hard Roll-Up Tonneau Cover

★★★★★4.8· thousands of reviews

The Revolver X4S is our flagship hard rolling cover, engineered for truck owners who demand maximum security without sacrificing instant bed access. Four impact-resistant aluminum slats unroll and lock in seconds with one hand, while the patented rail system seals flush against your bed rails to keep weather, dust, and prying hands out.

We built the X4S around a cantilever-spring design that holds tension across the entire cover—no sagging, no flapping, no noise at highway speed. The slat panels are powder-coated for UV resistance and backed by our limited lifetime warranty, so this is the last cover most owners will ever need to buy.

Aluminum slat construction & impact protection

Each of the four slats on the Revolver X4S measures a full inch thick and houses a reinforced internal skeleton that distributes point loads across the panel. We extrude every slat from 6000-series aircraft aluminum, then CNC-mill the edge profiles to mate with the locking rails—tolerances are tight enough that wind noise stays virtually silent even at 80 mph.

The powder-coat finish goes on in three layers: zinc-rich primer, impact-resistant base coat, and a final UV topcoat that we bake at 400°F. That stack resists stone chips, tree branches, and the kind of abuse that cracks ABS plastic covers in a single season. If you haul gear that shifts or stacks high, the slat design means a bumped corner won’t crater the entire panel the way a single-piece fiberglass lid would.

One-hand operation & cantilevered tension system
Sizing & fit

One-hand operation & cantilevered tension system

You can fully retract the Revolver X4S or deploy it to any partial position without ever setting down your coffee. The cantilever springs inside each rail exert constant rearward pull, so the cover self-tensions whether it’s rolled all the way to the cab or stopped halfway down the bed. No straps, no latches along the side rails, no fumbling with bungee cords.

When you want full bed access, release the tailgate latch and push the cover forward—it rolls into a low-profile canister that sits just behind the cab and leaves the entire bed open for plywood, appliances, or a full pallet. The canister housing is barely seven inches tall, so you keep rear sight lines clear and still tuck the rolled cover under a camper shell or rack crossbars if you add those later.

Styling

Installation, bedliner compatibility & fitment notes

The X4S mounts with adjustable C-clamps that hook under your bed rail and tighten down with a standard hex key—no drilling, no adhesive, no bolt holes through sheet metal. Most owners finish the install solo in twenty to thirty minutes. The clamps sit on top of spray-in or drop-in bedliners without issue, and we include spacer shims if your liner lip is thicker than a quarter-inch.

Fitment is truck-specific: we manufacture separate rail profiles for short bed, standard bed, and long bed configurations across Ford, Chevy, GMC, Ram, Toyota, and Nissan platforms. If you run stake-pocket tie-downs or a fifth-wheel hitch, the cover clears over-rail accessories as long as they don’t protrude more than an inch above the bed rail. The tailgate seal is a bulb-style EPDM gasket that compresses against your tailgate’s top edge—even factory spray-in liners with a rolled lip seal tight. Rails on the BAK Revolver X4S lineup share the same extrusion profile, so if you swap trucks down the road you may only need to replace the clamp brackets rather than the entire cover.

Installed it solo in 20 minutes flat
I was skeptical about the no-drill claim, but the clamps really do grab tight without any wiggle. Took me twenty minutes in my driveway with just the hex key they include. Cover looks factory and the one-hand roll works exactly like the videos show.

Holds up to job-site abuse better than my old soft roll
I haul welding equipment and steel cutoffs every day. My old vinyl cover ripped in six months. This X4S has taken scrapes, dropped angle iron, and a full sheet of plywood sliding around, and it still looks new. The powder coat is no joke.

Zero wind noise at highway speed
I drive 200 miles a week on the interstate and I was worried about drumming or whistle. It's dead silent. The tension system keeps it flat, and I've never had a flap or rattle even in crosswinds.

Spray-in liner fit was perfect with the spacers
I have a Line-X spray liner with a thick rolled edge, and I was afraid the clamps wouldn't clear it. The spacer shims they include brought the rails level, and the seal is bone-dry after a month of Seattle rain.

Locks tight enough I quit worrying about tools
I used to pull my toolbox out every night because my soft cover zipped open in five seconds. The X4S tailgate lock and slam latches give me real security—I leave my cordless drill and compressor in the bed now without a second thought.

Canister barely blocks my rear window view
When I roll it all the way forward the canister sits low enough that I can still see out my back glass. My old tri-fold stacked up so high I couldn't see anything. This is way better for daily driving.

Good to know

Questions about the Revolver X4S

Yes. The clamps sit on top of spray-in liners up to a quarter-inch thick, and we include spacer shims for thicker rolled edges. As long as your stake-pocket accessories don't rise more than an inch above the bed rail, the cover clears them without interference. The rail profile is designed to span over-rail tie-downs and most fifth-wheel hitch brackets.

Release the tailgate latch with the key, then push the rear slat forward. The cantilever springs in the side rails pull the cover toward the cab automatically—you're just guiding it, not fighting the weight. The springs self-tension whether the cover is open, closed, or stopped halfway. To close it, pull the rear slat back toward the tailgate and twist the latch key; the slam latches grab every few inches as the cover unrolls.

Absolutely. Stop pushing at any point and the slam latches will hold that position automatically. If you need to haul a toolbox or dirt bike up front, you can lock the cover halfway and leave the rear section weather-sealed. The latches engage every few inches along the rail, so you have dozens of locking points to choose from.

The X4S adds automatic slam-latch rails and a spring-assist canister that make one-hand operation possible. The standard X4 uses manual twist knobs along the rail to lock the cover down, so you need both hands and a few extra seconds. Both covers use the same four-slat aluminum construction and powder-coat finish—the S model just streamlines the daily open-close routine.

The canister measures about seven inches tall and nine inches front-to-back when the cover is fully retracted. It sits flush against the bulkhead, so you lose roughly nine inches of bed length in the rolled position. Most owners find that's a fair trade for full access to the rest of the bed—you can still load a pallet or an eight-foot ladder without removing the cover.

The EPDM bulb seals and drainage channels handle heavy rain and car washes extremely well. You may see a few drops migrate to the front corners in a driving storm, but the bed stays dry enough for electronics, camping gear, or anything else you'd want to protect. Snow sheds naturally off the slat camber, and the rail weep holes route water out at the tailgate so it never pools on top of your cargo.

Yes. We bake the finish at 400°F in three layers—zinc primer, impact base coat, and UV topcoat. Stone chips and branch scrapes leave minor surface marks, but the aluminum underneath won't corrode and the coating doesn't crack or peel the way ABS plastic does. If you do get a deep scratch, a rattle-can touch-up in matte black blends right in.
