BAK Revolver X4S Hard Roll-Up Tonneau Cover

★★★★★4.8· thousands of reviews

The Revolver X4S combines rugged aluminum slat construction with the convenience of a roll-up design. Each slat is powder-coated for UV and scratch resistance, giving you a bed cover that handles weather, cargo, and years of daily use without compromise.

We engineered the X4S for truck owners who need quick bed access without sacrificing security. The cover rolls open in seconds and locks flush when closed, sitting just one inch above your bed rails. Whether you're loading landscaping gear on Monday or camping equipment on Friday, the X4S adapts to your routine.

Our dual automatic latch system means you can open or close the cover from either side of the bed. No reaching across, no fumbling with center locks. The spring-assisted rolling action makes operation effortless, even with gloves on in cold weather.

Aluminum Slat Construction & Finish

We build every X4S panel from extruded aluminum, not vinyl or fabric. The slats interconnect with a hinge system that flexes as the cover rolls but stays rigid under load when closed. Each slat receives a textured matte black powder coat that stands up to sun, salt, and scratching better than painted steel.

The powder coat process bonds finish directly to the aluminum surface at high temperature, creating a shell that won’t peel or bubble. We’ve tested X4S covers in Arizona desert heat and Canadian winter freeze cycles—the finish holds. If you haul gear with sharp edges or straps, the slats take contact without chipping through to bare metal.

Roll-Up Access & Latch Operation
Sizing & fit

Roll-Up Access & Latch Operation

The X4S rolls from front to back, stopping at any position you choose. Need eighteen inches of bed access for a toolbox? Roll it partway. Loading plywood sheets? Roll it all the way to the cab. The spring cartridge inside each rail canister holds tension so the cover stays put wherever you stop rolling.

Dual-Side Latch System

Most roll-up covers force you to reach across the bed to unlatch from one side only. We put automatic slam latches on both driver and passenger rails. Pull the strap on either side, and that rail releases. The opposite side follows when you start rolling. If you back into tight spaces or park against walls, you always have an access point.

Installation & Bed Rail Fit

The X4S mounts with a clamp system that grips your bed rail stake pockets and inner lip. No drilling through paint, no permanent holes. We include all clamps, spacers, and hex keys in the box. Most installers finish in thirty to forty-five minutes with basic hand tools.

Rail canisters sit inside the bed, flush with the top edge. The side seals compress against your bed rail when you tighten clamps, creating a weather barrier along the full length. Water that hits the cover surface drains off the sides, not into the bed. The front header bulkhead seals against the cab with a molded gasket.

Tougher than my old vinyl cover
I replaced a soft roll-up with the X4S last spring. The aluminum slats handle tree branches and gravel without damage. My old cover tore after two years; this one still looks new after eight months of landscaping work.

Dual latches are a game changer
I park my truck tight against the garage wall on the driver side. Being able to open the cover from the passenger side saves me from repositioning every time I need bed access. Simple feature, huge convenience.

Solid cover, minor water seepage in downpours
Overall very happy with the X4S. It keeps my tools dry in normal rain. During heavy storms I get a little moisture along the tailgate seal, but nothing soaks through. Way better than a soft cover.

Installation was easier than expected
I'm not a mechanic, but I got the X4S installed in about forty minutes by myself. The clamps lined up perfectly on my bed rails. No drilling required is a big plus—I didn't want holes in my truck.

Holds up in Canadian winters
We get heavy snow and ice up here. The X4S doesn't crack or freeze shut like cheaper covers I've tried. I brush off snow and the cover rolls open even in below-zero temps. Powder coat finish still looks perfect.

Low profile looks sharp on my truck
I wanted a cover that didn't stick up high above the bed rails. The X4S sits almost flush when closed. Gives my truck a clean, finished look without the bulk of a folding cover.

Good to know

Common Questions About the Revolver X4S

No drilling is required. The X4S uses a clamp-on mounting system that secures to your truck's bed rail stake pockets and inner bed lip. You'll tighten clamps with basic hand tools, but no holes are drilled into your truck bed or rails.

Installation typically takes thirty to forty-five minutes. All necessary clamps, spacers, and hardware are included in the box.

Yes. The X4S features dual automatic slam latches—one on each side rail. You can release and roll the cover from either the driver or passenger side, whichever is more convenient based on where you park.

Both latches engage automatically when you close the cover, and a single key lock secures both sides simultaneously.

When fully rolled open, the X4S canister sits approximately six inches behind the truck cab. The canister occupies the front twelve to fourteen inches of bed length, depending on your truck model.

You retain full access to the remaining bed space. Most cab-mounted racks and headache racks clear the rolled canister without interference.

The X4S is designed as weather-resistant, not fully waterproof. The cover uses side rail seals, a front bulkhead gasket, and overlapping slat joints to block rain, snow, and dust under normal driving and weather conditions.

In heavy downpours or highway speeds with sustained rain, minor moisture may penetrate along seams. Cargo stays dry in typical weather, but the cover is not rated for submersion or pressure-washing directly into seals.

The X4S is compatible with most stake pocket accessories, though some pockets may be occupied by mounting clamps. Bed extenders, tie-down anchors, and toolbox mounts that use alternate stake pockets typically work alongside the cover.

The low-profile design clears most over-the-rail toolboxes and bed liners. If you run a spray-in liner, the X4S clamps adjust to accommodate the added thickness. Check your specific accessory setup during test-fitting to confirm clearance.

Routine maintenance is minimal. Wash the cover with soap and water as you would your truck. The powder-coated aluminum slats don't need wax, though a spray wax adds gloss and repels dust.

Inspect side rail seals and clamp tightness twice a year. If seals show wear after several years, replacement seals are available. The sealed rail canisters and spring cartridges require no lubrication under normal use.

The aluminum slat construction and powder coat finish resist cracking in freezing temperatures. Snow brushes off easily, and the cover remains flexible enough to roll open even in below-zero weather.

Ice buildup along seals can occur in extreme conditions. Allowing the truck to warm up or using a de-icer spray on latches helps if ice prevents the cover from releasing. The slats themselves don't freeze together due to the overlapping hinge design.
